Poor Experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I've had a highly unsatisfactory experience with Driveway.com and Lithia Motors. Since beginning the purchase process on August 20th, I have encountered numerous, unresolved issues that have caused extreme inconvenience, emotional distress, and financial strain. Despite my best efforts to work with the company to resolve these problems, I have been met with delays, inadequate responses, and a lack of accountability.

Below is a timeline of events, detailing my concerns and attempts to rectify the situation:

* August 20, 2024: Initial contact with Akiree to begin the purchase process.

* August 27, 2024: My credit union issued payment for the vehicle.

* August 29, 2024: I paid $500, which was supposed to be refundable, to secure the vehicle.

* September 4, 2024: After several requests, I finally received pictures of the vehicle. The pictures, which should have been provided prior to the $500 payment, revealed cosmetic issues, including scratches, nicks, and a small indent from a baby seat.

* September 12, 2024: I received the vehicle but immediately noticed that two roof rails were missing. I called Akiree, who assured me the issue would be addressed.

* September 13, 2024: Upon inspection, the vehicle had little to no gas, the coolant light was on, and there was no wiper fluid raising questions about the so-called inspection process. Later that day, while driving, the car suddenly lost acceleration and started smoking, leaving me stranded on the expressway with my children. The car was towed to Land Rover of Chattanooga for diagnostics.

* September 16, 2024: Land Rover diagnosed a major coolant leak, an incorrect battery, and other issues, all discovered just days after receiving the vehicle.

* Despite these serious issues, Driveway declined to extend my rental car period until I requested to speak to a manager.

* October 3, 2024: After receiving the vehicle back, I experienced further mechanical failure while driving to Atlanta. The car jerked, and I had to return to Land Rover, where they found a misfire requiring spark plug replacement. Once again, Driveway offered insufficient support, agreeing only to cover half of the costs despite the dangerous situation this car has repeatedly put me in.

* October 10, 2024: I requested full coverage of the repairs due to the vehicle being in such poor condition at the time of purchase. Driveway refused, offering only a partial refund for repairs.

* As of October 15, 2024, I am still without a functional vehicle, have yet to receive my $500 refundable payment, and have received zero updates or resolutions or my registration.

* On October 15, after having an extensive call with the manager, he called my husband back and said they would cover the spark plugs repair BUT NOT the rental car. I explained that we had no other transportation since we haven't had our vehicle. I asked for them to please cover all of the rental expenses because we still have not received the check from them to get our car. The manager, Parker, was clear that they will NOT cover the repairs and the rental - he said I had to choose one.

Throughout this ordeal, I have experienced not only a lack of customer service, but also a disturbing lack of compassion and responsibility from Driveway.com. Despite having paid for this vehicle and insurance, I have only been able to use it twice - both times resulting in breakdowns that put me and my family in danger.

I've been patient, polite, and fair but at this point, I can't take it anymore. All I wanted was a functional vehicle and no $500 rental car tab.

Horrible experience! It took 1 month to get the truck.

The truck arrived leaking oil from the engine and the touchscreen was glitching with horizontal lines on the display. See the picture. This was a 2022 GMC Sierra SLT with the 3.0L diesel engine. It only had 29k miles on it.

The carfax was clean. This truck came from a dealership in WV. The name of the dealership is Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat of Morgantown WV. The belly pan was missing under the truck which tells me that the dealer looked at the oil leak and did nothing about it.

I called Driveway the day after the truck arrived and requested to return the truck for a refund. They asked me if I wanted to take it to a dealer for an estimate to repair it. This truck is under factory warranty, but I did not buy a broken truck and I did not want to deal with having it repaired. It took them 2 weeks to pick up the truck.

I was able to track the truck with the BOL number that the driver gave me. It went back to the same dealer in WV and 1 day later it was listed for sale again on Driveway.com. It is currently still listed for sale. See the picture.

They did not have time to fix the oil leaks and the touchscreen. They are going to sell it 'BROKEN' again and someone else is going to have to go through the same thing that I just went through. It took 2 more weeks to get my money back and they did not refund my shipping cost of $1200 even though they were 100% at fault for selling me a broken vehicle that they knew was broken. I had to call or text every day to get my refund.

The agents are not trained well and if you do not stay on them, nothing will get done. Driveway is owned by Lithia Motors. They do not care about the customer at all.

I will never buy a vehicle online again. Be very careful if you are thinking about buying from this company.

I applied for a $13k vehicle with $2000 down as a first-time buyer and was declined. It's crazy how others approved me for $25k but didn't have decent cars.

This dealership had a nice one for me to start with and I got straight declined for a simple car after I was supposedly pre-qualified.

I am very aware that pre-qualification doesn't mean you are fully approved. You're basically conditionally approved.

DONT BUY FROM THESE GUYS IF YOU HATE BEING JERKED AROUND!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Dont buy a car through Driveway.com if you need to use your car anytime soon! I had multiple issues with this place..they told me a 500 dollar deposit would save the car then told me they hoped they could hold on to it while my bank finalized the loan after I paid it.

The day after it was delivered it wouldn't start and even though I had all these warranties, I was told I had to cover repairs up front and they would "pay me back" including the tow. Thank goodness Mercedes knows how customer service works. They saved my *** when driveway left me high and dry. I've had my car for almost a month and even though I did my part and submitted all my DMV paperwork on time no one was working on my registration that THEY have to do for you.

My temp tag expired weeks ago, and now I can't use the car without driving illegally, but don't worry, Driveway will pay for your ticket if you get pulled over...can't do anything for you if you get points for the ticket on your license tho! Im told its gonna be now 4 -6 more weeks now before I get my plates! No one ever follows up and your emails and texts get no response after you buy the car. They misrepresented the car not having a manufacturer's defect...seat will not pull down all the way in the back.

These guys don't have any way to cover any expense up front if you have a problem..thats all you, they'll issue you a check two weeks later when they get around to it. If you use your own bank to buy the car, you can't return the car in the 7 day window they don't tell you this until after its done. I had to provide my private documents 50 times each, their online document server never worked, they asked me over and over for documents they didn't need because they did not do the finance. ( can't imagine how much more of a disaster THAT would have been) THIS PLACE SUCKS AT SERVICE, COMMUNICATION AND JUST OVERALL EXISTING.

Don't go here unless you want an endless headache!!

What a disaster! Thank God for Mercedes cause these guys were horrid!!

Payment processing and service

I have been with them for almost 2 years and the payment system is not working properly. When you call, you are on hold for no less than 30 minutes to an hour.

The customer service is not reliable or helpful with the issue, and asking for support or a supervisor will get you nowhere near a solution.

The best thing to do is to go where you can talk to your car provider and discuss the situation. I was very on board until my payment issue arose, and that's a problem.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We sold our vehicle to Driveway and purchased another through them. This was literally the worst experience!!!

First, the car they sold us was through a third-party dealership. It had damage to the rear panel that was not in the photos, so it was damaged during delivery. They tried to pay us to have it fixed, which seemed sufficient at the time. Then, three days later, the engine light came on.

Apparently, it had not been checked out by 'Driveway's' so-called 'Certified Pre-Owned'. They tried to fix the issue by having us take it in and pay for the problem. All this to find out that they just wanted us to keep this car that was supposed to be a good deal. These issues went on for a month, then the problems just transferred.

We kept getting no response from anyone regarding our issues with the trade of the vehicle. They took two months to pay off my trade, during which I had to make two more payments on my trade. Once it was paid off, Driveway did not alert my loan company to send the extra payments to me, so my final check was sent to Driveway. I had to follow up with Driveway and was told three times that a supervisor was going to call back.

That never happened! We finally received the check three months after the transaction was completed. Now for the finale; I had to call Driveway again to find out when they would release the title for a car I paid cash for. I was told that it was being held due to incomplete registration requirements.

I informed the customer service representative that I had registered the vehicle two months ago, as was required. I further demanded to speak to a supervisor and was put in their 'queue' to have a supervisor call me back within 48 hours. Of course, I received no phone call. So, I followed up 60 hours later and, to my astonishment, they released the title after I called two days ago.

I have purchased from Carvana and Driveway, and out of the two, if I have to compare, Carvana outdid Driveway.

I will NEVER purchase anything from Driveway again. Beware, they pull you in until they have you committed, and then they don't care about you or your concerns later.

I purchased an Infiniti from Driveway, and because the car was in the same state, I chose to pick it up myself. One of the agents confirmed that the car will be ready for pickup on Thursday; I arrived at the dealership around 4 p.m.

on Thursday at Prestige Lexus Ramsey, NJ. After my arrival, one of the agents informed me that the car was not available for pickup and that the pick-up date was Friday instead of Thursday. Yet now that I'm here, the car may be ready and cleaned. After completing all the paperwork, as I was heading out, I noticed the car was not detailed (interior & exterior).

The only thing they did was vacuum the floor, and since the dealership closed at 7, I couldn't request to detail the car. I noticed finger prints from the previous owner, car had stains and dirt.

Buyer beware: I reported it to the State Attorney's Office. I purchased and financed a car through Driveway.com, and the vehicle was delivered without registration.

Driveway told me they only deliver and instructed me to call the dealership, Lehman Buick in Miami. However, no one is returning my calls.

How about that? I can't even use what was purchased.

Not pleased after sale went through.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I don't like writing these kind of reviews but they are necessary for the future. Driveway Financial is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with.

After my sale went through the company became another person. They lied to me about things that was suppose to be done on the vehicle , the shipment wasn't correct upon arrival as well as money that wasn't reimbursed . These lies came from several employees in different departments. They clearly don't care about customers at all.

If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't by a vehicle online , two wouldn't definitely do business with Driveway Financial. Very disappointed that a business like this could be ran so poorly.

The reviews are overwhelming on this business and they all aren't that great. And I'm still spending money on this vehicle because of the lies and false advertisement.

Deposits mean nothing.

I had a deal for a car and got my loan approved. They required a $500 deposit to hold the car, which I paid.

However, my bank later informed me they couldn't accept a loan-to-value (LTV) ratio higher than 130%. I spoke with Jonathon Sellers a few hours later, explaining that I was deciding whether to cover the difference in cash to lower the LTV or to not trade in my current car. He acknowledged and assured me it was fine. But, two days later, I discovered the car had been sold.

I was told it was never on hold because the deal wasnt finalized. So, what was the $500 for?

The rep explained that since the deal wasn't approved, there was no hold on the car. Highly disappointing.

Damaged car not disclosed by dealer

Purchased a 1 year old leased car with 14,000 miles on it through Driveway that I rejected when delivered based on over $3,000 damage on the roof and trunk, and other body damage. The worst was the overcoming smoke stink.

Dealer made me get a written estimate of the damage along with pictures, and wanted me to take care of it.

Car was taken back, but lost over $1,600 on deliver fees they will not refund me. Lesson learned, do not buy a car with out first seeing it, and not from Driveway!
